1What can this job do?
This board runs the South Orange County Community College District — Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College. The seven approve the district budget, hire the chancellor who runs the colleges, set district policy, and oversee buildings and programs at the two campuses that serve local students transferring to universities or training for careers.
It does NOT run your K-12 schools or any university, and it does NOT set community-college tuition — California sets statewide enrollment fees, not this board. It cannot taxes except that local voters approve.
